The Talisman

So, I have began to read The Talisman by (our favorite) Stephen King and Peter Straub (1984). It definitely has the language of the 80's. There is a sequel to this book called Black House, which was released much more recently, in 2001.

I am only a few chapters in, so the biggest thing I have to say is that it jumps inthttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifo another "world" making it feel a bit more like a dungeons and dragons style of book than a Stephen King book. So far, this aspect makes it interesting.

I have been told that it links back to the Dark Tower series in a very strong and unexpected way, which I am strongly looking forward to.

Bag of Bones... flop?

All of the reviews of Stephen King's Bag of Bones were... less than impressive.

However, I find that most of his TV and movie adaptions maintain this level of not-so-awesome-ness.

Your thoughts?

Updates and Info

So it looks like A&E will be airing a mini-series based on Bag of Bones later this year. I will have to keep up on that, especially because I am so far behind on Haven I have little hope of catching up.

In Dark Tower news, it looks like the movie was canceled. Which is really too bad.

Under the Dome

So, I have recently finished reading Under the Dome.

It was a good read. Although it was long, there were almost no parts where I began skimming or skipping paragraphs due to boredom. Also, it was nice to see some new molds for characters. I didn't feel the usual characters were used (not saying Stephen King is not a wonderful writer and characterization artist, but he often uses a cookie cutter for his characters). It kept me enthralled till the end, gave me tears of joy and upset, and creeped me out pretty well.

I give it a B+

Worth the read for sure.
